Grand Morne is a Quebec City based power-trio with a simple yet effective structure: one drum, one bass, one guitar, interspersed with driving soundscapes. After many years together and many shows under their belt, the Grand Morne boys are still exploring any musical inspiration coming their way, thus always avoiding categorization into any defined sub-genre. There’s always been a connecting thread though, and it’s downright heaviness: from its stoner rock origins to the more doomy stuff of nowadays. Their on-the-rocks sound, scattered with Sabbathian inflections and Voivoidian twangs reunite heaps of influences in one unique sound. Grand Morne define themselves as instrumental heavy stoners, with a small hint of progressive. After a debut full album recorded in January 2012, last year’s EP called Recifer and the single Le Duc released in between, Grand Morne is now working on another full to be released by the end of 2018.
